Society of Antiquaries of London
The Revels Office conference is hosted by the Society of Antiquaries of London, a learned society established in 1707. The Society’s 3000 elected Fellows specialise in interdisciplinary approaches to material culture, demonstrating how we can “explore the material past together”. Anyone can propose a lecture or conference to the Society to be considered for inclusion in their programme.
Burlington House
The Society has been based at Burlington House, Piccadilly, since 1874. Burlington House was built in 1664 as a private mansion; the Society’s apartments date to the nineteenth century.
The nearest tube stops are Green Park and Piccadilly Circus, and the nearest bus stop is Old Bond Street/Royal Academy. You can view more details on the Society’s website.
Online
As a virtual network, online access is very important to us: many of us will be meeting in-person for the first time at this conference. The full day will be broadcast online via Zoom and recorded for later viewing on the Society’s YouTube channel.
Access
The Meeting Room is installed with a hearing loop. Conferences take place on the ground floor and there are three shallow steps to the entrance (a ramp can be provided). Other floors can be accessed via the lift. Gendered toilets are located on the ground floor, and a gender neutral toilet on the basement floor. The nearest fully accessible toilet is next door at the Royal Academy of Arts.
You can book for the conference via the Society of Antiquaries’ website. If you have any queries, please contact events@sal.org.uk.
